Who is Vybrant Music?

Born and raised in Harlesden, north-west London, England, a hive of soul and reggae music culture, producer and future CEO of Vybrant Music -David Brant grew up listening to the likes of Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin and other 60’s, 70’s & 80’s soul greats. Drumming was his main passion and soon took up the keys as his natural musical talent progressed…
When he left school, he studied music technology before jumping deep into studio engineering and programming at Boundary Row Studios in S.E London. This is where David cut his teeth recording, mixing and mastering for some of the biggest dance artists of the 90’s: such as Hooj Choons, Rob Dougan (Matrix Soundtrack), John The Dentist, JX, JD Braithwaite, Bobby & Steve and Victor Siminelli to name just a few. In 1996 David signed his first publishing deal to indie publisher Reverb Music, built on his work with UK girl band N-Tyce, who were signed to Telstar Records. After setting up his own studio, David built upon his production skills, developing various artists and worked with some of the best co-writers in the industry.

David went on to co-write and produce a song called “Why?” with Alan Glass and Ron St.Louis, which he demo’ed with up and coming UK girl group Mis-Teeq. David's friend - DJ Darren Stokes (Tin Tin Out), heard the song, loved it and passed it over to successful indie dance label Inferno Records Steve Long, who signed Mis-Teeq up to a singles deal. Later the next year they gained a no.8 UK chart position the following year in 2001. On the back of that breakthrough song, David also penned and produced “All I Want” with Alan Glass & Maryanne Morgan, which topped the charts at No.2 in July that same year, which is still to this day one of Mis-Teeq's most successful and popular singles. Subsequently, Mis-teeq’s album flew into the top.3 of the UK album charts gaining platinum status.

On the back of those hit singles, David and his team were asked to write with new V2 Records signing Liberty X. They wrote a track called “I Got What You Want” on the album “Thinking It Over” which went top 3 in the UK album charts and soon sold to double platinum (600,000) status. David also co-wrote/produced “Stop Stop” plus other songs for beautiful R&B/Pop band Tymes 4, signed to Edel Records, which was released in Europe and further afield in Asia and Japan.

His reputation as a songwriter and producer grew, and he still continued to nurture new acts. In early 2003 David met up with Ipswich based artist, Nate James and worked for over 2 years developing his sound. The breakthrough single “Set The Tone” (co-written with Nate James & Dawn Joseph), threw Nate into the music industry’s spotlight, gaining huge support from the top R&B DJ’s in the UK. Nate's debut album 'Set The Tone' was licensed and released internationally, most notably to EMI Japan, where the album became a big hit, selling in excess of 200,000 albums. Nate was also nominated in his own country for MOBO awards, and several other R&B/Soul awards. David was asked back to the production helm for Nate James' 3rd album for EMI Japan, a covers album called 'Revival', which was a collection of classic soul songs from the 70's, 80's & 90's.

.

Following on from his past successes, David found a new protege: singer-songwriter Stewart Mac. After working closely together for a few months, he soon discovered they were building up to a debut album. They decided to soft-release the album on i-Tunes, when Stewart made a breakthrough and won 'The London Paper' competition to support Bon Jovi in the summer of '08. This gave Stewart a chance to get the music heard by up to 60,000 Bon Jovi fans and won a few hearts over with rave reviews.

Stewart went on to steal another heart - Ex Ceo of EMI Asia: Hans Ebert, who went on to license Stewart Mac and the album onto Gold Typhoon Records in China. This ultimately lead to gaining a successful debut single called 'I Love You' (written originally by famous Chinese artist David Tao) produced by David Brant, and they released the album, achieving a No.1 Western Chart position in China in February '10, with literally millions of streams and downloads.

Currently David continues to build his profile as one of the UK’s finest crossover producers, specializing in all pop crossover genres of music. He is currently working with up and coming artists such as Zarif, Corrine Cherish, Rakell, Rajiv, Roxy Rain, and MC Blaze Blackheart.

Vybrant Artist Roster

We're proud to have an eclectic mix of artists, ranging from rock, R&B/Pop and HipHop/Rap on the Vybrant Music production and management roster. Check out Mr Arch, Rajiv, and multi-million selling artist, Stewart Mac.

    MR ARCH

Genre: Rap/HipHop

Mr Arch a.k.a Captain Hook first blessed the mic, spitting to Drum N Bass, and making mixtapes with his pal Richard who inherited his dad's 1210s. Eventually he made the progression from Drum N Bass to Grime, emceeing on pirate radio stations and performing at live events with underground Grime crews formed with other heads from around the way (Stevenage). Unfortunately due to musical differences, the crew he was a member of disbanded.

Shortly after, he left Hertfordshire moving back to London where his Dad had his own studio. This gave Mr Arch the time to develop his skills, lyricism, and experiment with music production techniques with his Dad as his mentor.

A few years later, he has emerged onto the scene once again as a solo artist. Having moved from grime to hip hop, a musical genre in which he feels he can better express himself.
Working hard in the studio, Mr Arch has recorded many tracks refining his style, to bring the real essence of hip hop; true lyricism with meaning, and original beats combining what's real, with what's sick! Whether you want something different, you want something that makes you think, or you want something you can just vibe and relate to, Mr Arch will impress.

RAJIV

Genre: Pop/Urban

Essex born R&B Singer, Rajiv is rapidly making waves on the UK music scene, with tracks such as 'Back & Rewind' which became very popular with fans online last year.

Rajiv's love of music and his exotic good looks are owed to his Mauritian Father and Trinidadian Mother. His parents prided themselves on making sure Rajiv had a good education here in the UK and were very proud to see their son earn a 1st class honours degree in Multimedia at University.

During his time at University, Rajiv honed his skills, not only as a singer, but also as a skilled producer. Soon after, the Asian Network Radio DJ Bobby Friction invited Rajiv to Birmingham onto his show and labelled him as Future Artist of the Week.

Rajiv was later discovered by Audio Music Star, who hooked him up with Mis-teeq and Nate James' producer, David Brant of Vybrant Music. Rajiv found himself locked in the studio, writing track after track. Together they penned the breakthrough track - 'Back & Rewind' - which whirled around the social networks, gaining over 50,000 views on youtube alone and created a buzz with major labels.

In 2011, Rajiv signed to music management company Wiskin PR, to build on the previous year’s momentum and has been preparing for performances all over the UK. Already over half way through his debut album, Rajiv has been hooking up with other songwriters such Katerina Bramley, Marvee Woods, and Funkiipapa, alongside his producer David Brant, with a strong team of influential people behind him mixed with his own talents this year is looking pretty exciting already.

Stewart Mac is a singer, songwriter and guitarist from London, England with a passion for creating music with anthemic choruses and bittersweet lyrics. With many influences on his creative style, his music has been associated to styles like Bon Jovi, Goo Goo Dolls, Don Henley and Tom Petty.
In 2006, Stewart teamed up with producer David Brant (Mis-Teeq, Nate James) and began working on his debut album. Throughout 2007 and 2008 Stewart heavily promoted the album, which enjoyed rave reviews and critical acclaim.
His live shows took him to legendary venues such as The London Astoria, The Clapham Grand, The 100 Club, IndigO2 and the Islington Academy. In June 2008, Stewart landed the opportunity of a lifetime when he was selected as the opening act for rock legends Bon Jovi on the UK leg of their ‘Lost Highway’ World tour. Together with his band, Stewart wowed the 62,000 strong crowd at Twickenham Stadium in London, with a blistering set of tracks from his debut album. Following the success of the Twickenham show, Stewart flew to New York to once again hook up with the Bon Jovi tour where he spent three days filming in and around New York and New Jersey and at the band’s Madison Square Garden shows. As a result of the Bon Jovi experience, Stewart’s profile increased and doors began to open.

Later that year, Stewart began plans to release his debut album throughout South East Asia. As part of the album launch, Stewart recorded an English version of a Mandarin song, which was a huge hit for Chinese singer/songwriter David Tao.
Using an English translation of the lyrics, Stewart recorded “I Love You” in his own style. The song became the lead single and video from the Asian version of his debut album.

In December 2009, Stewart was invited to be part of the line up at the Hennessy Artistry concert in Taipei City, Taiwan, where he performed a blistering set of his own material, as well as performing a duet with Taiwanese superstar Jolin Tsai to a crowd of over 10,000.

Stewart’s single and album were subsequently released in China and Taiwan in February 2010, accompanied by a large amount of radio, TV and press promotion, including becoming the MTV Asia debut artist of the month throughout February 2010.
The lead single from the album ‘I Love You’ was hugely popular in Taiwan and China and has to date received over 30 million downloads, on its way to becoming a number 1 song for Stewart in China. It was recognized as one of the most downloaded song ever by a Western artist in China.

Following the success of the single and album in China, Stewart returned to the studio in late 2010 to record his new album in London, along with his full band and trusted producer David Brant.

The new collection of songs promises to be a development from his first album. With two years of global live performances under his belt, Stewart hopes his new material will reflect the growth and maturity that comes from being on the road and playing to large audiences.

The as yet untitled album is scheduled for release on schedule in the third quarter of 2011 and will be heavily promoted globally across all media channels.
As a thank you to his ever loyal UK fan base, Stewart recently played a headline show at London’s legendary 100 Club on Oxford Street in the heart of the West end.
Showcasing old fan favourites, as well as several new tracks from the forthcoming new album, the set was both a thank you and a reminder of the songwriting ability and stage craft that Stewart and his band posses.

Stewart is now scheduled to headline the once again legendary Clapham Grand in London on September 23rd to coincide with the launch of the new album.

What People Say...

"David Brant is an amazing producer and songwriter. He is extremely
creative, patient and full of life and an energy that helped to bring
out the best in me as an artist. He is definitely the best producer I
have ever worked with and it was a pleasure and honor to make music
alongside such a genius." (Kekell Sa)

"Working with Dave is always a pleasure. He is highly talented and I had no qualms in handing over responsibility of mixing Nathan Watson's new album to him. The results speak for themselves, and he has done an exemplary job. Nathan has one word for him - Awesome!" (Steve Salvari, Producer - Moondance Musik)

“Not only did Dave have faith and belief in what I was trying to achieve with my music from day one, as a producer he seemed to have an almost telepathic understanding of the sounds I could hear in my head. He managed to channel those ideas into productions that went further than what I could have imagined on my own. He is the true definition of a producer and is as important to my sound as any guitar part or vocal melody.”(Stewart Mac)

“Working with David Brant has been enlightening to say the least. I was a ‘Rebel with a Cause’ when I met David and he was the first producer to bring out a talent in me I never realized I had. My first solo album and my best songwriting to date. Thank you Davey for letting me be me! Love ya!” (Nosheen)

“David Brant…You are a rose among thorns in this business! It’s so hard to find a producer/songwriter willing to work ‘with’ you as well as for you. You helped bring so many songs to life…and your love of music is infectious! I only hope to spend more and more studio time in your presence for years to come! If I had it my way we’d be in the studio everyday working on ideas and having a giggle in the meantime too!” (Corrine Cherish)

“Vybrant Music produced 3 of my songs for me. David was fantastic. He took the time to hear and understand my vision for the direction of each song and also had great ideas of his own. When I wasn't sure where I wanted to go, he gave excellent guidance which no doubt was a result of his expertise and years in the business. He was a pleasure to work with, he is friendly, professional and efficient. He even helped me out with some great session singers. In an industry where you only get one chance to present your material in the best light, David helped me do that,I couldn't be happier with my tracks. It’s the best money I’ve spent, to date.” (M. Jamal Griffith - Songwriter)

“I’m proud to say I had the pleasure to work with Dave.
He is really and truly a great producer and person. We’ve worked together on loads of tracks and I have never felt more comfortable with a producer which is what an artist needs especially when you’re first starting out. Dave was one of the first producers to produce tracks for our Tymes 4 album called 4Story. His originality, the quality of music and style is phenomenal. He is a fantastic person to work with and more importantly he makes great hits.” Melissa Garriques (Tymes 4)

“David Brant is one of the finest producers I have ever worked with...in fact, the best! He is incredibly inspirational when it comes to writing and finding a sound that suits the artist. I have had so many exciting experiences in the studio with him as his passion for what he does really is contagious and the results are superb! I have met no other person who exudes the same enthusiasm and talent that Dave does. Most important of all though, Dave is the nicest guy you could ever meet, working with him has been such a pleasure because he is so much fun to work with and makes you feel completely at ease which is so important in a writing environment when an artist needs to be able to let themselves go completely. (Madeleine Wilson)

The Lorelles - Riot In Your Heart - Extended Rap Version (feat. Marshy) - Single

It's been a busy summer and autumn, so apologies for the late update. I've been busy working away on new tracks for Nymesha, Rajiv and up & coming, uber talented vocal group, The Lorelles. Such lovely ladies to work with, and what a great track we wrote, called 'Riot In Your Heart', written in response to the UK Riots back in late summer. The song turned out so well, in fact, that we're releasing it as a charity single on 30th Nov 2011, (watch the trailer here) with record sales proceeds going to IGNITO who work hard to support and inspire young kids in under-privileged areas of inner-London with music.

Over the last 6 months or so, I've had the pleasure of working with Waliyah, who's name means 'Princess' in Arabic, and as her name suggests, she's certainly a regal lady indeed! She has the feminine charms and a scientist's mind to match. Her voice has a fluidity and soulfulness that's both unique and yet reminiscent of artists such as Blu Cantrell and Amy Winehouse. We've recorded an E.P called SUPERNOVA, which is out on pre-release on iTunes, so check it out! Also her first single called '6AM' is due out on video soon, so keep an eye out on those Music TV channels!

April-May 2011

I've been working hard in the studio with the lovely and talented singer/songstress & producer Nymesha P on a few of her self-penned tracks. The East Londoner's style is a sassy and quirky blend of pop, r&b and electro. It's hooky, sexy and radio friendly. I'll put up details of her website very soon where you can listen to her material. Look out for her duet with artist Rajiv in the near future! Watch out for this young lady!

Jan-Feb 2011

To start off 2011 I produced a couple of tracks for a talented band called Definition. I really liked their upbeat slightly retro style, with catchy, poppy hook lines. The band consists of Mike Perry (Drums & Vocals) John Galea (Keys & Lead Vocals) Paul O'Gorman (Guitar & Vocals). Check them out on Soundcloud and Facebook!

I've been working with Rajiv for quite a while this last year. We've recorded a few songs and in the process of development towards an album due for release next year in 2011. The last single release 'Back & Rewind' was very well received by youtube viewers, and the UK press have given kudos to Rajiv and hailed him as the next hot artist to look out for in 2011! Also check out the Shayal Remix on youtube as well! Watch the 'Back & Rewind' video on my player.

Fe-Nix
Over the last few months I've been working on some material for the lovely Fe-Nix ladies (Genetic Records). They're the contemporary Mis-Teeq of this decade, of whom I developed back in the early 'Noughties', so it's nice to come back to this style, with a fresh modern approach, yet typically urban and UK. Fe-Nix all have big voices, and one is also a rapper. They are award winning dancers too, like they rolled out from the streets of N.Y.C. Infact most people out their think they're Yankie chicks, and of course they beg to differ...They're totally London Town!

Kekell Sa

A few months back I was working with Brazilian hottie Kekell Sa. I met Kekell a couple of years back, and finally we've finished her debut album - 'Forteleza' -named after the place she comes from in Brazil. I co-produced her album along with Laurence 'Woo' Allen, and I mixed and mastered it as well. It's a hybrid of Electro-R&B-Brazilian club bangers and soulful latin ballads.
You can check out her music on her website.

Mixing: Soul artist Nathan Watson's album titled 'Student Of Life' which was produced by a long time mate of mine - Steve Salvari, who just so happens to be a leg-end from the original britfunk band - Central Line - back in the day! Had a great time, manning the mixing helm instead of my normal role of producer. Totally wicked album, great songs, and top musicians, a real good team of people to work with, including Nathan himself...A true gentleman. Look out for his album which will start promoing very soon!

In the meantime, have a listen to a couple of extracts from his forthcoming album....'Student Of Life'
