Who is Vybrant Music?
Born and raised in Harlesden, N.W London, UK - a hive of soul and reggae music culture; producer and future proprietor of Vybrant Music, David Brant grew up listening to the likes of Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin and many other soul, pop & funk greats. Drumming was his main passion and soon took up the piano as his natural musical talent progressed into music composition.
When he left school, he studied music technology at Sir John Cass Metropolitan University, before jumping deep into studio engineering and programming at Boundary Row Studios in Blackfriars, S.E London. This is where David cut his teeth recording, mixing and mastering for some of the biggest dance artists of the 90’s, such as: Hooj Choons, Rob Dougan (Matrix Soundtrack), John The Dentist, JX (Son Of A Gun), Arthur Baker (Babylon Zoo), JD Braithwaite (Total Contrast), Bobby & Steve (Kiss FM) and Victor Siminelli (NYC DJ/Remixer) to name just a few. David also worked with (now sadly departed) TV & Film composer, David Ferguson, on TV dramas and films such as Robbie Coltrane's Cracker, Bravo Two Zero (Sean Bean) and Ruth Rendell's 'Dark Adapted Eye'.
In the mid 90s, David signed his first publishing deal to Reverb Music Ltd, built upon his work with UK girl band N-Tyce, who were signed to Telstar UK/Columbia Records U.S. After setting up his own private studio, David built upon his production skills, developing various artists and worked with some of the best co-writers in the industry.
David went on to co-write and produce a song called 'Why?' which he demo’ed with up and coming UK girl group Mis-Teeq, made up of Alesha Dixon, Sabrina Washington and Su Elise Nash. David's friend - DJ Darren Stokes (Tin Tin Out), heard the song and introduced David to successful dance label Inferno Records, who signed the track and the girls to a singles deal. Later the next year they gained an official no.8 UK chart position in 2001. On the back of that breakthrough song, David also co-penned and originally produced 'All I Want', which topped the charts at No.2 with the Sunship remix in July that same year, beating Eminem but pipped to the no.1 post by Shaggy's huge hit 'It Wasn't Me'. 'All I Want' is still to this day one of Mis-Teeq's most successful and popular singles. Subsequently, Mis-teeq’s debut album 'Lickin On Both Sides' flew into the top.3 of the UK album charts gaining double platinum BPI status.
On the back of those hit singles, David and his team were asked to write with new V2 Records signing Liberty X. They wrote a track called 'I Got What You Want' on the album 'Thinking It Over' which went top 3 in the UK album charts and soon sold over double platinum (600,000+) status. David also co-wrote/produced 'Stop Stop' plus other songs for beautiful R&B/Pop girlband, Tymes 4, who signed to A&R man Daren Dixon at Edel Records. Their debut album '4 Story' was released in Europe and to Avex in Japan and Asia.
David's reputation as a songwriter and producer grew, and he still continued to nurture new acts. In early 2003 David met up with Suffolk based artist, Nate James and worked for over 2 years developing his sound. The breakthrough single 'Set The Tone' (co-written with Nate James & Dawn Joseph), threw Nate into the music industry’s spotlight, gaining huge support from the top R&B DJ’s in the UK including Ronnie Herel from Radio 1Xtra, and garnered huge support on TV from MTVbase. Nate's debut album 'Set The Tone' was licensed and released internationally, most notably to EMI Japan, where the album became a big hit, selling in excess of 200,000 albums. Nate was also nominated in the UK for the MOBO awards, and several other R&B/Soul awards. David was asked back to the production helm for Nate James' 3rd album for EMI Japan, a covers album called 'Revival', which was a collection of classic soul songs from the 70's, 80's & 90's. Nate later released a compilation of his greatest singles on an album called 'Restored', which featured a lot of David's recordings.
Following on from his past successes, David found a new protege: singer-songwriter, Stewart Mac. After working closely together for a few months, he soon discovered they were building up to a debut album entitled 'From Cautious Intent'. They decided to soft-release the album on i-Tunes, when Stewart made a breakthrough and won 'The London Paper' competition to support Bon Jovi in the summer of '08. This gave Stewart a chance to get the music heard by up to 60,000 Bon Jovi fans and won a few hearts over with rave reviews.
Stewart went on to steal another heart - Former CEO of EMI Asia, went on to license Stewart Mac's album onto Gold Typhoon Records in China. This ultimately lead to gaining a successful debut single called 'I Love You' (written originally by famous Chinese artist David Tao) produced and re-worked by David Brant, and they released the album, achieving a No.1 Western Chart position in China in February 2010, with over 80 million streams.
Currently David continues to build his profile as one of the UK’s finest crossover producers, specialising in all pop crossover genres of music. He has worked with top UK artists such as Zarif (Sony/RCA), Corrine Cherish, Rajiv (JRM Ent.), MC Blaze Blackheart, Katy Coffey, Martinique Bennett, Horacio Junior (Majestic Records) and singer/songwriter Katerina Bramley (Notting Hill Music). Vybrant Music currently is developing Rajiv & UK rapper Mr Arch, & Martinique Bennett
Over the years, as a music production company David has had much international success, writing with and or producing UK, U.S & European talents such as Mis-Teeq, Nate James, Dawn Robinson (En Vogue/Lucy Pearl), Liberty X, Maria Lawson, Brenda Edwards, Ryan Shaw, Tony Santos, Mollie King (The Saturdays), Javine Hylton, Jay Sean, Tiffani Vinyard, Abbey Clancy (yes, she's a great singer!) and rock artist Stewart Mac, selling many millions of records internationally.
If you're an up-coming singer songwriter, do get in touch and David will offer a fair deal production package, especially for un-signed artists who want to be heard by music industry folks or have the budget to release their own material into the public domain.

"David Brant is an amazing producer and songwriter. He is extremely creative, patient and full of life and an energy that helped to bring out the best in me as an artist.
He is definitely the best producer I have ever worked with and it was a pleasure and honor to make music alongside such a genius."
"Working with Dave is always a pleasure. He is highly talented and I had no qualms in handing over responsibility of mixing Nathan Watson's new album to him.
The results speak for themselves, and he has done an exemplary job. Nathan has one word for him - Awesome!"
“Not only did Dave have faith and belief in what I was trying to achieve with my music from day one, as a producer he seemed to have an almost telepathic understanding of the sounds I could hear in my head.
He managed to channel those ideas into productions that went further than what I could have imagined on my own. He is the definition of a producer and is as important to my sound as any guitar part or vocal melody.”
“Working with David Brant has been enlightening to say the least. I was a ‘Rebel with a Cause’ when I met David and he was the first producer to bring out a talent in me I never realized I had.
My first solo album and my best songwriting to date. Thank you Davey for letting me be me! Love ya!”
“David Brant…You are a rose among thorns in this business! It’s so hard to find a producer/songwriter willing to work ‘with’ you as well as for you. You helped bring so many songs to life…and your love of music is infectious!
I only hope to spend more and more studio time in your presence for years to come! If I had it my way we’d be in the studio everyday working on ideas and having a giggle in the meantime too!”
M. Jamal Griffith
“Vybrant Music produced 3 of my songs for me. David was fantastic. He took the time to hear and understand my vision for the direction of each song and also had great ideas of his own. When I wasn't sure where I wanted to go, he gave excellent guidance which no doubt was a result of his expertise and years in the business.
He was a pleasure to work with, he is friendly, professional and efficient. He even helped me out with some great session singers. In an industry where you only get one chance to present your material in the best light, David helped me do that,I couldn't be happier with my tracks. It’s the best money I’ve spent, to date.”
Melissa Garriques (Tymes 4)
“I’m proud to say I had the pleasure to work with Dave. He is really and truly a great producer and person. We’ve worked together on loads of tracks and I have never felt more comfortable with a producer which is what an artist needs especially when you’re first starting out.
Dave was one of the first producers to produce tracks for our Tymes 4 album called 4Story. His originality, the quality of music and style is phenomenal. He is a fantastic person to work with and more importantly he makes great hits.”
“David Brant is one of the finest producers I have ever worked with...in fact, the best! He is incredibly inspirational when it comes to writing and finding a sound that suits the artist. I have had so many exciting experiences in the studio with him as his passion for what he does really is contagious and the results are superb!
I have met no other person who exudes the same enthusiasm and talent that Dave does. Most important of all though, Dave is the nicest guy you could ever meet, working with him has been such a pleasure because he is so much fun to work with and makes you feel completely at ease which is so important in a writing environment when an artist needs to be able to let themselves go completely.
